The History of Meaning

Using Wikipedia as a pseudo-research tool, I follow hot links to gather the materials for these photographic compositions. Each takes its starting point from a technological invention and results in an associative, non-linear visual timeline. A lot of the objects are related to the search topic, but many appear arbitrary because they're hot links that someone went into Wikipedia and edited.

The photographs are a tactile internet search, including objects, tools, and artifacts.  It is intentional that the photographs have a natural viewpoint to give the illusion of standing over this ‘work table’—but it’s still a constructed viewpoint. All of the technologies in the photographs were attributed to make inventors; I’m interested in considering who else might be at this table.
